WHAT BULLET JOURNAL TO CHOOSE?

Medium size fits my hand well when I’m writing.

This journal comes with pre-numbered pages 😍 which OMG – such a time saver!

It has a greater number of pages (249 pages) than other journals you will see in this post.

This is a cheaper friend  of Leuchttrum1917.

I’ve recently discovered this one for myself, and I think it’s decent.

The only thing that does concern me is non-numbered pages.

(Pictures are clickable)

Ultimately, it boils down to if you prefer dotted or blank paper.

(Pictures are clickable)

Lemome is known for thick pages.

It comes with 120gsm paper which means you should have a little-zero show-through.

To my mind, it’s among the BEST Journal to start with because:

   – Minimum show-through if you happen to get clumsy with pens;

   – Not as expensive as the first Journal;

   – It has everything you need except for the pre-numbered pages.

It’s up for you to decide whether you’re willing to pay extra and have the individually numbered pages

(Leuchtturm1917), or pay less and get your Lemome.

SUPPLIES

               Faber Castell Grip HB Pencil

This pencil is very popular among experienced users.

HB stands for hard and black nature of the lead. See the scale below.

HB is the most suitable for writing and kind of “one-size-fits-all”.

Let me explain.

When I was studying at the Art School, they always told me:

“If you unsure, go for HB”.

GRIP in the name stands for the pencil’s body which prevents it from slipping out of your hands.

So, I recommend this one as it is quite standard to start with and easy to use.

             Faber Castell Pencil Eraser

A good eraser that does not produce much dust.

              Pilot G2 0.38 Black Pen

These pens are perfect for drawing because gel dries quickly.

They do not leave ‘drag marks’ from your hands.

They are extremely easy to use: you don’t need to press down hard to get the result you want to.

In my experience, the majority of Bullet Journalists use these pens.

You can start with it as a default option and learn what you need.

            Muji Point Black Pens

Still, there are some people who prefer Muji over Pilot G2 0.38 Pens.

If you don’t like Pilot for some reason, you can go for Muji pens.

They seem a bit brighter on paper and can smudge slightly more than Pilot G2 0.38 Pens.

There is no dramatic difference between them, but…

I would recommend starting out with Pilot G2 0.38 Pens as they are easier to use.

An example of how Muji writes:

              Plastic Transparent Ruler

The only requirement for a ruler is that it has to be transparent.

It’s simply more convenient when you can see where and what you are drawing.

With this link you should get two rulers: 12 Inches and 6 Inches

(Pictures are clickable)

That’s it.

In total, you will invest $ 19.68 + Journal on your preference.

When (and if) you get more certain about Bullet Journaling, check more advanced tools here.

If you’re still not entirely sure WHAT’S NEXT?

I KNOW THE FEELING.

I FELT THE SAME WHEN I JUST STARTED.

That’s why I wrote, A Practical Guide How to Start A Bullet Journal.

Look inside and decide if it’s for you.

True. It's a nice excuse to structure your thoughts and take the moment to reflect.

Life goes on and is not measured from year to year but by steps that we take every day to enrich our lives with meaningful events and changes from within.

  • Walking through picturesque windmills in Zaandam I'm realizing that life is not about strategy. It's not about working harder, posting more or constantly wishing for a better future.
⠀
It's about the present moment, and I'm lucky enough to be able to make those moments meaningful:
⠀
✨ I'm realizing that I'm working hard not because I have to but because it's boring otherwise.
⠀
✨ I'm writing my goals and vision in my #journalforbusypeople not because it's cool to set goals but because honestly - I LOVE IT!
⠀
✨ I'm practicing gratitude and saying what I truly feel because it makes my heart so full that it can explode.

What would you do if you could do ANYTHING?

I've created a separate account for my Journal for Busy People. It's @busyjournal - if you were looking for a productivity journal, take a glimpse!

  • Standing out or fitting in when it comes to business?⁣
⁣
I work for a male-dominated company. Like really it's 20 men and me. ⁣
⁣
I'm often the only one who doesn't speak the native language.⁣
⁣
I'm the one that comes from a business, not an engineering background. ⁣
⁣
Putting it like this doesn't sound too bad.⁣
⁣
But in the heat of the situation, all I wanted is to just blend in. Why? ⁣
⁣
I wanted to be a part of the group, not a black sheep. I wanted to belong. ⁣
⁣
With time I weirdly came to terms with it because I've learned to see my differences as my advantage.⁣
⁣
Yes I don't talk football and cars.⁣
⁣
Yes I don't share men's humor.⁣
⁣
Yes English is not my native language.⁣
⁣
Yes I don't understand much about transmission equipment. ⁣
⁣
But should I really? ⁣
⁣
Being different is my inner power that no one can take away from me.⁣
⁣
I've learned to be OK to be different and now I'm actively learning how to confidently bring different perspectives and consciously benefit the conversation. ⁣
⁣
Have you ever felt different from the crowd? ⁣

  • “I see the value in coaching but let me just try to DIY everything first. I just don’t have the budget for it”.⁣⠀⁣⠀⁣
⁣⠀⁣⠀⁣
The sad truth is, some of us don’t realize the power of investing. ⁣⠀⁣⠀⁣
⁣⠀⁣⠀⁣
I get it. I myself was cheaping out on courses and coaches because good coaches are an investment. ⁣
⁣⠀⁣⠀⁣
I would much rather spend my time searching for free advice and cheaper options than working on my business. ⁣
⁣⠀⁣⠀⁣
Until I got really fed up with myself and decided that I was GOING TO afford it. ⁣⠀⁣⠀⁣
⁣⠀⁣⠀⁣
I was listening to a book ‘You are a badass at making money’ where the author shared: ⁣⁣
⠀⁣⠀⁣⠀⁣
“If it doesn’t scare the crap out of you, you don’t want it bad enough”.⁣⠀⁣⠀⁣
⁣⠀⁣⠀⁣
I’ve DECIDED to want it bad enough. I was no longer there to play small. I was there to make it work. ⁣
⁣
Sounds easy? ⁣
⁣
I was terrified to hire a coach and invest in courses because it was still a lot of money to me and you never know in advance if it’s a high return investment but I thought: ⁣
⁣
“How can I expect big things happen to me if I’m not ready to play big?"⁣
⁣
"How can expect someone to invest in my services and if I am not investing in myself?”⁣⠀⁣⠀⁣
⁣
And you know what happened?⁣⠀⁣⠀⁣
⁣⠀⁣⠀⁣
Not only that I got paying clients but also the money came to me from the least expected sources. ⁣
⠀⁣⠀⁣
It’s called the power of investing. ⁣
⁣
Money is the energy: you will get back 2x more than what you’ve invested in. ⁣
⁣
You can never expect to reach ‘a serious level’ if you are holding onto your money and refuse to take bold actions. ⁣⠀⁣⠀⁣
Tell me, what holds (held) you back from investing in yourself? ⁣⠀⁣⠀⁣⠀⁣
⁣
Disclaimer: In this post I’m sharing my personal experience and NOT giving any financial counseling. ⁣⠀⁣⠀⁣

  • Saying Yes when your answer is No⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
I used to be a people pleaser.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
But I would NEVER describe myself that way because I thought: ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
"I don't want to please people, but I just don't want to offend anyone or hurt people's feelings.⁣"⁣⁣
⁣⁣
What's the difference though 🙈⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
My conflict strategy was conflict avoidance. ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
I would much rather agree than go down the path of confronting people with saying NO.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
I'm still suffering from being a YES girl but much less so.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
Because... ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
I figured that it's not only personal but also cultural:⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
I live in The Netherlands, and I've noticed that people here are direct and efficient. ⁣ ⁣ ⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
They consider it polite to honestly assess your abilities and communicate it.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
So, when they cannot do it, they answer: ⁣
⁣
No I cannot.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
They don't even add "sorry" because from their point of view:⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣what do I apologize for? I haven't done anything wrong. I just cannot do that right now. ⁣⁣That's it. ⁣
⁣⁣⁣
To their mind, it's polite and much more respectful to be upfront with what you want / can do than ending up not doing it or worse - building up the inner resentment.⁣
⁣⁣⁣
I once shared that I didn't say No because I felt bad. ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
They got really confused: "Why didn't you just say you couldn't do that?"⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
Got me thinking... ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
Yes indeed, why? It's just three simple words:⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
No⁣⁣⁣
I⁣⁣⁣
Cannot⁣⁣⁣
[I'd still add the fouth though: "sorry"]⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
What do you think about this kind of approach?⁣⁣⁣
.⁣⁣⁣

  • Finding the right mentor is such a slippery slope...⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I realized the true power of coaching only when I became one. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Still, I often debate with myself whether a coach is worth my financial and time investment.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Recently I've hired a coach. I had the same questions: ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
"Maybe I can still do that alone?"⁣⁣
"Maybe I don't really need one?"⁣⁣
"Maybe I can progress myself?"⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Honestly, answers to all these three questions are ⁣⁣
✔️ Yes⁣⁣
✔️ Yes⁣⁣
✔️ Yes ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
The problem I've discovered with these questions is that they aren't right to ask. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
The real question here is:⁣⁣
⁣⁣
"Am I ready to spend years / months figuring it all out myself? Or will I rather pay someone to save me pain and show me a faster way?"⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Essentially, I'm asking here what's more important time or money?⁣⁣
